Tuition & Policies

What to bring to a lesson...

All students should have a three ring binder to keep music and any other supplies for lessons, which may include: Notebook, pencil, highlighter, markers etc. For practice during the week, it's best to bring some type of recorder with you as well. Please bring binder to every lesson - also, bring a bottle of water to each lesson. Please turn cell phones off during lessons.

When to arrive for your lesson...

Please arrive quietly, at least 3-5 minutes in advance of your scheduled lesson. Please wait until you see the person before you is finished with their lesson before coming in.

If a student arrives late to their lesson...

Please arrive ontime. Lesson time will not be extended for those who are not ready to begin ontime.

If teacher is running late...

If teacher is running late he will give you your full half hour.

If a student or the teacher misses or cancels a lesson due to any reason...

A specific time is reserved weekly for you that is exclusively yours. This is the special nature of private study. All students are expected to schedule at least four lessons per month in order for your time to be reserved. Please give at least 24 hour notice in advance for a missed lesson. Missed lessons will not be refunded or counted toward a future month. Joe would love to do make up lessons for all his students, unfortunately his schedule makes that very difficult. However, if he finds an opening that works for his schedule and yours, arranging a makeup lesson is not out of the question. You are financially responsible for any missed lessons. If the teacher misses/cancels a lesson, every effort will be made to schedule a make up lesson that is mutally conveient. Otherwise, the time will be counted towards a future month.

How often should the student practice...

The more the student practices the more proficient he/she will become. A big part of taking lessons is the home practice; if you do not practice, don't expect much progress to be made. Suggested practice times: Practice 4-5 days a week, 20 minutes of warm up, 20 minutes of assigned pieces. If you aren't prepared for your lesson this isn't an excuse to cancel. It is better to follow through with your commitment regardless of your preparation.

Discontinued Lessons...

If a student intends to discontinue lessons, a thirty day advanced written notice is required or a full months' tuition shall be assessed.

Monthly tuitions are $140.00 per month for 4 - 30 min lessons, $180.00 for 4 -45 minute lessons, and $240.00 for a 4 - 60 minute lessons.

Tuition is due at the time of the first lesson of each month. Late fee of $5.00 added if not paid on time.

There could be an extra fee for materials.

The music studio is open Tues.,Wed. and Thurs., for lessons. Closed on all national holidays, the day after Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas/New Year vacation and Easter week.

The tuition is due the first lesson of the month, no exceptions.

All lessons will be given at the music studio.

Thank you for the opportunity to work with you, and I'm excited to watch you grow as a performer! JOE

Welcome to the Rykert Music Studio. In Joe’s teaching he incorporates a more classical training method (as he learned) that he believes will improve your singing across every genre that you wish to explore. It’s a great starting point for anyone wanting to learn a healthy and correct singing technique - breath control, warm ups, diction, placement, etc. He applies this classical training to any genre he is singing. With this foundation, he will incorporate in the lessons the desired genre of music that the student wishes to explore.
In order to ensure a clear understanding of his policies he has provided them below. He wishes the best for his students, and takes great care & dedication toward their success.
